Who are we

Nico Projects is a Commercial Construction company with a growing reputation for providing honest, affordable and dependable construction services for our clients.

We operate with Integrity, provide genuine solutions and hold ourselves to account. A no nonsense approach at where it is needed the most, the coalface.

The Nico Projects team works skilfully, in compliance with all legislative requirements, and with compassion to have your spaces functional, operational, and safe. An accredited team of local trades, our service focuses on minor works for our clients through to large scale fit out and refurbishment projects.

Before setting up Nico Projects, Directors Craig Hammond and Jeff Murdoch encountered too many stories of trade mistakes, or negative experiences in construction. With proven industry experience, and to provide our clients with an alternative, Nico Projects was born.

Craig Hammond

Managing Director

My story is one best shared in-person over a quality coffee.

A strong educational background, with a Bachelor of Education and Master of Commerce from the University of Sydney, I entered the building industry. My first employment opportunities in construction were residential projects, specifically adding value as a project manager to investment and class 2 properties by providing honest, authentic advice. Working my way up through the ranks, one of the most important fundamental pieces of advice I received was apply yourself to understanding every role on a building site and understand the construction process.

Since, I have worked my way through senior leadership positions in commercial construction (onsite and in the office) with a specific focus on applying my knowledge base of education principles, modelling behaviours and working with integrity. Before setting up Nico Projects, I worked with some of the biggest property and landowners in Australia providing construction solutions to everyday problems.

The fundamental issue I continue to encounter is a real lack of accountability, and care for clients. Specifically, simple problems that can be addressed with common sense approaches, or regular maintenance works. After spending years focussed on age-care, education and fit outs, Nico Projects was born to provide honest, affordable construction solutions. Our business aims this no- nonsense solutions and support where it is needed the most, at the coalface. Too often I have seen, and experienced the end user; our elderly, disabled, school children, and our workers affected by administrative processes, and bureaucracy.

Nico Projects focuses on keeping construction simple, using local and trusted trades, and working with integrity.

Jeff Murdoch

Director

My career started in 1979 in the Insurance Industry. My position as an Underwriting & Claims Clerk at South British United soon developed into a front facing role as business development manager. It was here that I was introduced to the world of risk assessment and management, both property and people risk.

Having held leadership positions in various businesses, the common desired goal is for our clients to enjoy the journey in our business relationship and receive desired outcomes’! This is common to all industries and inspired my involvement and support of Craig , whom lives, eats and breathes these qualities in an industry not well known for such.

Founding Nico Projects with Craig was about bringing my experience from the insurance industry, my passion in real estate and developments, and mentorship to a company with a good heart. Honest advice, breaking the stigma of construction companies doing wrong by their clients and underpinning the business with a quality foundation and moral compass.

My Charitable work included the Emjay golf day each year to raise money for the Community Assist charity, which helps to improve the welfare of AIDS-devastated communities in Sub-Saharan Africa , completing  the Kokoda Trek in 2013 as part of an insurance industry team raising money for army veterans and raising funds each year for breast cancer research “ Mother’s Day Classic”.
